Mulnayak:
Nearly 153 cms high
black-colored idol of Bhagawan Parshvanath in the half-Padmasana posture.
Tirth: it is on a hill of the village Masrul near Nasik.
Historicity: Seven Balbhadramunis and many other Munis attained
salvation here. One of them was Muni Gajsukumar. That is the reason why this place is
called Gajpantha. According to jain scriptures this is a very ancient tirth. In the ninth
century of the Vikram era, Chamraj Odiyar, the king of the Mysore state renovated this
tirth. Therefore, it is also called Chamarleni.
Other Temples: At present, there are no other temples.
Works of art and Sculpture: This temple on the hill. near the Nana village in
the forest, presents a very beautiful scene. The idol installed in the temple is serene,
peaceful and serious.
Guidelines: The nearest railway station of Nasik Road is at a
distance of nearly 20 kilometers. The foot of this tirth is at a distance of 7 kilometers
from the foot of the hill. The road ascending the hill is one or one and a half miles
long. There are steps for climbing. Bus service and private vehicles go to the fort of the
hill. Board and lodging provisions are there at the foot of the hill.
