Mulnayak: Nearly 121 cms. high, black-colored idol of
Bhagawan Mahavir Swami in the Kayotsarga posture.
Tirth: It is on a small hill on the bank of the river
Narmda near the village Omkareshvar.
Historicity: This tirth is believed to be very ancient. There is
an inscription of the year 11 of the Vikram era. There are also inscriptions on the idols
of other temples. The last renovation of this temple of accomplished in the year 1951 of
the Vikram era. Here two Chakravartis, Santkumar and Madva and ten Kamdevs together with
many sadhus attained the final liberation. This is mentioned in the Nirvan Kand and Jain
scriptures. A fair is held here from the thirteenth day to the fifteenth day of the bright
half of the month of Fagan.
Other Temples: Besides this, there are ten temples.
Works of art and Sculpture: Since this tirth is near the meeting-place of the
rivers Narmada and Kaveri and among the hills, the scene is beautiful beyond description.
Its antiquity strikes one on seeing the idol. The sculpture and artistry of those days are
matchless.
Guidelines:
From this tirth on the Khandva
- Indore railway line, the nearest railway station of Badvaha is at a distance of 19
kilometers and Omkareshvar road is at a distance of 11 kilometers. Bus service and private
vehicles are available. On the river bank there are boats to ferry one to the other bank.
There is a dharmashala here. In Omkareshvar too, there are board and lodging provisions.
